The Remote Desktop Connection is pre-installed on all Windows systems and allows direct access to the server's desktop interface. To establish a Remote Desktop connection to your server, proceed as follows:

Prerequisites:

You wrote down the IP address of the server to which you want to establish a connection.

  • Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Remote Desktop Connection.

The Remote Desktop Connection window opens.

  • Click Show Options.
  • In the General tab, enter the server's IP address in the Computer field.
  • Enter the user name in the User Name field.

Optional: To save the login data, activate the Allow saving login data check box.

  • Click Connect.

The Windows Security dialog box opens.

  • Enter the password.
  • Click OK.
tipNote:
If you establish the Remote Desktop connection to the desired server for the first time or do not save the connection data, the following message appears: The identity of the remote computer cannot be verified. Do you want to connect anyway?

Optional: Activate the check box Don't ask me again for connections to this computer..

Optional: Click Yes.

The Remote Desktop connection will be established.

tipNote:
A session is created on your server for each connection. With the license, a maximum of two connections can be established simultaneously. To end a session, you have to log out from the server. If you close the Remote Desktop window, the session and all running programs will remain active.
