With appealing pictures you can attract attention. Be careful not to slay your visitors with too much text. If an image can replace text, do not hesitate to use it.

Ultimately, it's about communicating information effectively. Any image that attracts attention but does not support your content (such as generic images) should be kept away from your website. A convincing picture can convey complex information in an easily understandable way; however, these pictures are usually not to be found in freely available picture collections. If your readers want to understand your content easily and intuitively, you sometimes need to invest time and effort yourself.

The work will pay off, because optimized and easily accessible content is the key to the success of your website and ensures that your visitors keep coming back.

If you have your own images of your products, employees, etc., upload them and add them to the appropriate pages. You can embed images directly into the text or insert them as a gallery.

Screenshots / Images

If your contribution refers to a GUI (user interface), use screenshots to give your reader an overview and make procedures clearer.

A good screenshot only shows the relevant GUI and highlights important controls.

  • To highlight controls, use a frame with 3px and #F8C901;

If you reference control elements in the text, highlight them in bold.

  • Example: Select the desired domain in the domain overview.
  • For nested menus: Go to Domain Settings > Advanced > DNS.

The height of your pictures has a big influence on the readability of your contribution - use low height screenshots if possible. Use a uniform aspect ratio if possible:

  • Positive: 16:9 or wider
  • Negative: 4:3
