Loading a Virtual DVD

Your server has a virtual DVD drive. With this virtual drive you can load image files of operating systems or applications.

Prerequisites:

You are in the section Infrastructure > Servers.

  • Select a server.
  • Click DVD Drive.
loading_a_dvd
  • Select a DVD.
  • Click Load DVD.

The DVD will be loaded.

Mount the virtual DVD

Through the 1&1 Cloud Panel you can load DVDs such as operating system installation disks into the virtual drive of a server. The DVD will be integrated immidiately, rendering a restart unnecessary.

  • For Windows, the DVD drive appears directly in Windows Explorer.
  • For Linux, the drive has to be mounted:

In the example we mount the VMWare Tools DVD.
[root@ngcs2 ~]# mkdir /mnt/dvd
[root@ngcs2 ~]# mount /dev/sr0 /mnt/dvd
mount: block device is write protected, mounting read-only
[root@ngcs2 ~]# ls -ah /mnt/dvd
total 62M
