Using HiDrive with Your iPhone or iPad

In this article, we give you a quick overview of the most common features of the HiDrive App for iOS.

Logging In

You can install the HiDrive app for free from the App Store. Then, start the app.

Log in with your HiDrive account or register as a new user. After logging in, you will be in the My Files directory.

Showing Files

If you have many images in your storage, the thumbnails can negatively affect performance. If this is the case, it is recommended that you deactivate the Show thumbnails option in the Settings menu. This displays files and folders in lists instead.

Uploading Files

Tap on the three dots in the upper blue section. In the menu that opens, select Upload and then one or more files you want to upload.

Sharing Files

With the HiDrive app, you can share your files and folders with others. You can do this by clicking on the 3-dot menu button and selecting Share. After the share link has been created, you can copy the link, send it by email, open it in the browser, or just delete it. Tap Edit share link to limit how many days it will remain active and the number of downloads it can allow.

You will find an overview of all releases in the menu. The menu can be accessed via the menu icon at the top left or by swiping from left to right.

To edit a share, select the file or folder. In the top right of the 3-point menu, select Edit share to set the validity and maximum number of downloads. Approvals can be cancelled in the same way. If you have selected a share and touch Delete, you are asked whether you want to cancel the share or delete the file. In this case, choose Cancel Release.

Streaming Music and Videos

You can play music and video files directly within the HiDrive app. Just tap the file you want to start.

Deleting Files

To delete files or folders, select them, and then tap the 3-point menu at the top right. Choose Delete and confirm the operation.

Tap on the menu icon at the top left or swipe from left to right to access the Settings. Various options for your account can be found here.

Automatically Upload Photos: Here you determine whether photos and/or videos should be uploaded automatically. You have the choice whether the upload only takes place with an active wifi connection and/or through a mobile data connection.

Display File Extensions: If this option is activated, file extensions such as .pdf or .jpeg are displayed in the app.

Show Thumbnails: Activate this function if you want thumbnails to be displayed by default. This results in additional traffic, which can lead to longer loading times.

Security / Password Protection: You can secure your HiDrive app with a four-digit PIN code. This must then be entered at the start of the app.

Transfer Error Reports: If you enable the transfer of error reports, errors can be detected and corrected more quickly.

Logging Out

Tap your username, then tap Logout User to log out of the HiDrive app.
