Preparing a Domain Transfer with eNom and Accessing the Authorisation Code

This article will show you how to prepare your eNom domain for a transfer to IONOS by disabling the transfer lock and the private registration option.

We will then show you how to access your authorisation code from eNom. You will need this code later to approve (authorise) the domain transfer on IONOS's end.

Requirements

Certain domains (.com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, .mobi, .asia, .cc, .tv, etc.) must be registered under your name for at least 60 days before they can be transferred to a different provider.

Disabling the Domain Transfer Lock with eNom

For your protection, generic top-level domains (e.g. .com, .net, or .org) have a domain transfer lock activated by default.

Before you start the domain transfer, you must disable this domain transfer lock.

  • Log in to your eNom account.
  • In the Domains menu, select My Domains.
  • Select the desired domain.
  • Click General Settings.
  • For the Registrar-Lock option, select Disabled.
  • To complete the process, click Save.

Disabling Private Registration (ID Protect) with eNom

If you are using private registration (referred to as ID Protect at eNom) for your domain, you must disable it before you start the domain transfer.

  • Log in to your eNom account.
  • In the Domains menu, select My Domains.
  • To the right of the desired domain, click the ID Protect icon.
  • Click Edit your ID Protect Settings.
  • Select Unprotected.
  • To complete the process, click Save Changes.

Accessing the Authorisation (EPP) Code from eNom

Once you have disabled the domain transfer lock and private registration for your domain, you can have your authorisation code (also known as an EPP Code) from eNom emailed to you.

You will need this authorisation code later to approve (authorise) the domain transfer on IONOS's end.

  • Log in to your eNom account.
  • In the Domains menu, select My Domains.
  • Select the desired domain.
  • Click General Settings.
  • Finally, click Email Auth Code to Registrant.

Continuing the Domain Transfer with IONOS

You have successfully prepared your domain and can now continue the domain transfer on IONOS's end.
