Enabling an SSL Certificate for Your Managed WordPress Website

For 1&1 IONOS Linux Webhosting packages and Managed Servers

Let your visitors know that website security is important to you. Your 1&1 IONOS contract includes a free SSL certificate with 256-bit encryption. This ensures the best possible protection during data transmission.

Your Managed WordPress website has already been connected to your own domain.

Step 1

Log in to 1&1 IONOS and select the relevant contract.

Step 2

In the Hosting section, click App Centre.

Step 3

You will be notified how many free SSL certificates are included in your contract. The red lock icon below indicates that SSL is not active for your site. In the overview, click the Activate SSL button for the desired Managed WordPress application.

Step 4

Please accept the SSL terms and click Activate SSL Certificate for Free.

Please note: SSL certificates are already available in many 1&1 IONOS contracts. We will provide this feature free of charge for existing contracts in the coming weeks.

Hint: If you no longer have a free SSL certificate availalbe, you can order additional SSL certificates in the 1&1 IONOS Shop.

Step 5

The SSL Certificate is now activated for your website. In rare cases, activation may take up to 2 hours for technical reasons.

Step 6

Here you can check the status of the SSL setup. The green lock icon indicates that SSL encryption is now active for your website.
