Cancelling SSL certificates

If you no longer need an SSL certificate that you have purchased as an addition to a contract, you can cancel the certificate. This article explains the necessary steps in your IONOS account.

Note

If you would like to cancel an IONOS SSL contract (not additional feature), please follow the steps in the article Cancelling an IONOS contract instead.

Cancel SSL add-on

  • Log in to your IONOS account.

  • Click on Menu > My account in the title bar. The My account page opens.

  • Click on the Contracts & subscriptions tile. The Contracts & subscriptions page opens.

  • In the Service column, click on the name of the contract with which you have ordered the SSL certificate as an additional item. The data of your contract is now displayed in an overview.

  • Click on the Additional items/domains tab. The contract's additional items, domains, and features will be listed.

  • Under Additional item, click on the SSL certificate you wish to cancel.

  • In the Renews on line, click on Cancel additional item. The Cancel additional items window is displayed.

  • Click on Next.

  • Enter the reason for cancellation and click Next.

  • Follow any additional prompts that may show depending on your contract or SSL certificate.

  • Check the cancellation date and click Next.

  • Tick the following checkbox: I am aware of the effects of the cancellation. The contract remains active and may incur further charges.

  • Click on Cancel additional items now.

    You will then see a confirmation showing the cancellation date. You will also receive confirmation of the cancellation by email to the email address you have registered with IONOS. Finally, you will also receive information containing your transaction number (example: K-12345678-90).
