Selecting payment method

Your IONOS invoices can be paid in various ways. This article informs you about available payment methods and how to change them if necessary.
Available payment methods
The following payment methods are offered by IONOS:
- SEPA direct debit
- Klarna
- Credit card
- PayPal
- Apple Pay
- Google Pay
- Amazon Pay
Change payment method
- Log in to your IONOS account.
Click Menu > My account in the title bar. The My account page opens.
Click on the Invoices & payment details tile. The Invoices & payment details overview page is displayed.
In the Payment method section, click on Change payment method.
Select one of the payment methods offered. After the selection, additional information and query fields may be displayed below the selection.
Enter the required information or accept the displayed conditions if the selected payment method requires this.
Click on Save.
SEPA Direct Debit Scheme: Important information
If you opt for the SEPA direct debit option, you authorise IONOS to collect the fees from the specified account (direct debit authorisation / SEPA mandate) by making an express declaration to this effect.
The direct debit will be announced at the latest 5 working days before the direct debit is collected, usually with the invoice. The direct debit will be collected at the earliest 5 working days after the invoice date. You will be notified of the invoice by email, in the personal configuration menu, or in another agreed manner, and can access it there.
Exceptions are in place e.g: Public organisations such as schools, clubs, institutes etc. that do not have a bank account. In this case, we offer to change the payment method to 10 days after receipt of the invoice.
Credit cards: Important information
IONOS accepts credit cards from the following providers:
- Mastercard
- Visa
- American Express
Test debit for security reasons
If you select a credit card as your payment method, a test charge is usually made for a small amount, which is then cancelled immediately. The purpose of this test debit is to ensure that the credit card is valid. If your credit card is declined by our system, please contact the issuer of your credit card or your bank.
