FTP and .htaccess file access are not supported within MyWebsite Now. This article explains the reasoning behind this limitation.
FTP access and .htaccess explained
- FTP access: Standard method for transferring files between two computers in a network, e.g. between your local computer and the webspace of your website. This makes it easy to upload or download files such as images, HTML documents, or scripts.
- .htaccess file: The .htaccess (hypertext access) file is a configuration file for web servers. It is located in a directory on the server, and influences how the server processes requests in that folder. An .htaccess file is often used in web hosting for creating redirects and password protection, for example.
Browser based solution
MyWebsite Now is a website builder that runs in your web browser. No additional software on your local computer are required. Changes are made directly within MyWebsite Now.
FTP access and access to the associated .htaccess file are not possible in these packages for security and simplification reasons, and cannot be set up.
