Valid for Website Builder and MyWebsite.

Once you have created a legal notice for your website, you should display it on all pages. The footer, for example, is a good place to do this. This article explains how to link to your legal notice in your website's footer.

Insert legal notice in footer

  • Open the legal notice page of your public-facing website, and copy the URL (Internet address) from the address bar of your browser.
  • Log in to your IONOS account and open your MyWebsite project.
  • Click on Settings in the main menu.
  • In the Customise and Adjust Website section, click on SEO and Footer.
  • Enter the following HTML code in the Footer and copyright statement section:
    <a href="Link to your legal notice page">Legal notice</a>
Replace the text "Link to your legal notice page" with the URL (Internet address) you copied previously, e.g. https://www.example.com/legal.
  • Click on Save.

Note

The Legal notice page is still visible in the navigation bar. You can hide the page via the main menu item Manage Pages if necessary.
