If you use Managed Nextcloud from IONOS and would like to export your data in accordance with Art. 20 of the GDPR (Right to data portability), this article explains how to do it.

Please Note

  • There is no central location in Managed Nextcloud where you can export all data at once. Different data, such as email addresses or calendar entries, must be exported separately.
  • The corresponding apps, e.g. calendar, must be active so that you can export data.

Files

  • Log in to your Managed Nextcloud account.
  • Click on the folder icon (Files) in the top left-hand corner of the Managed Nextcloud menu bar. All files and folders that you have saved in your Managed Nextcloud are displayed.
  • Click on the square in front of the desired files and folders to select them. This will display the 3-dot Actions menu.
  • Click on Actions > Download. The selected items will be downloaded to your local computer in a zip file.

Users

  • Log in to your Managed Nextcloud account.
  • In the Managed Nextcloud menu bar at the top right, click on the circle icon with your profile photo or the first letter of your user name to open the submenu.
  • Select Users. The user overview opens.
  • Select the desired user information and copy it manually into a document of your choice.

Please Note

You must be logged in as an administrator to see other users of your Managed Nextcloud.

Contacts

  • Log in to your Managed Nextcloud account.
  • In the Managed Nextcloud menu bar at the top left, click on the person icon (Contacts). The contacts overview is displayed.
  • Click on the Contacts settings > Address books button at the bottom left.
  • Click on the 3-dot menu to the right of the desired address book.
  • Click on Download to save the address book as a vcf file on your local computer.

Calendar

  • Log in to your Managed Nextcloud account.
  • Click on the calendar icon in the top left-hand corner of the Managed Nextcloud menu bar. The calendar overview is displayed.
  • Move the mouse over the desired calendar name on the left-hand side and click on the pencil icon that appears (Edit and share calendar). Additional calendar information is displayed.
  • Click on Export to save the address book as an ics file on your local computer.

Website Bookmarks

  • Log in to your Managed Nextcloud account.
  • Click on the star symbol (bookmark) in the top left-hand corner of the Managed Nextcloud menu bar. The calendar overview is displayed.
  • Click on Settings > Export at the bottom left of the bookmark view to save your current bookmark list as an html file on your local computer.

Data Export From Other Apps

To export data from apps that are not part of the standard scope of Managed Nextcloud, refer to the relevant app help or the entry in the Nextcloud Appstore.

Database

Please note that the database cannot be exported for Managed Nextcloud installations.
