This article explains how to delete emails from the email archive and how to arrange for email accounts and the emails they contain to be deleted from it.
Deleting emails from the email archive as a data protection officer
If you delete an email account that you have added to the email archive, the email archive will be deactivated and automatically renamed following the deletion. All emails stored in the email archive will be retained. As a data protection officer, you can delete these emails yourself from the email archive. You can find instructions in the following article:
Arranging for IONOS Customer Service to delete email accounts and the emails they contain from the email archive
To delete an email account and all the emails it contains from the email archive, please contact IONOS Customer Service. You can find further information on the following page: IONOS Customer Service.
For security reasons, you must provide IONOS Customer Service with written authorisation to delete the email account and all the emails it contains. An email alone is not sufficient. Please write an informal letter containing the following:
- Your customer number
- The email accounts to be deleted from the email archive
- Your confirmation that the archived emails contained in each of these email accounts may also be deleted
- Your signature
Caution
If an email account and all the emails it contains are deleted from the email archive, they cannot be recovered.
