Managing chats in IONOS GPT
Valid for IONOS GPT (Momentum AI).
If you use IONOS GPT regularly, a lot of conversations (chats) can quickly pile up on the left-hand side of your screen. To help you keep track of them, IONOS GPT offers a range of options.
In this article, you’ll learn how to pin, rename, export, and delete chats.
Opening the chat menu
Most of the management options for an individual conversation are grouped together in that chat’s own menu. To open it:
- Open IONOS GPT.
- In the chat list on the left-hand side, find the conversation you want to work on.
- Click on the three-dot icon at the right-hand end of the chat’s row.
The chat menu will open, showing you the available options: Pin, Rename, Export, and Delete.
Pinning a chat
You can pin particularly important conversations. A pinned chat is moved into a Pinned group at the top of your chat list, so you don’t have to hunt for it when you want to carry on with it later.
- Open the chat menu using the three-dot icon next to the relevant chat.
- Click on Pin in the menu.
The chat now appears under Pinned at the top of the list. To reverse this, open the menu again and click on Unpin.
Renaming a chat
By default, IONOS GPT generates a title for each new conversation from your first question. Renaming your chats makes them easier to tell apart.
- Open the chat menu using the three-dot icon next to the chat you want to rename.
- Click on Rename in the menu.
- The current name is now shown as an editable text field. Type the new name.
- Confirm your entry by pressing the Enter key.
Exporting a chat
If you wish to save the content and replies from a conversation locally on your computer – for example, to print them out or archive them – you can use the export function.
- Open the chat menu using the three-dot icon next to the relevant chat.
- Click on Export in the menu, then choose Export chat (.json), Plain text (.txt), or PDF document (.pdf).

Deleting a single chat
You can remove individual chats that you no longer need, or that you were simply trying out. This keeps your chat list tidy.
- Open the chat menu using the three-dot icon next to the relevant chat.
- Click on Delete in the menu.
- A confirmation dialog box headed Delete chat? will open. Click on OK to delete the conversation permanently, or on Cancel to keep it.
Deleting all chats at once
If you want to delete your entire chat history in one go, you can do so in just a few clicks.
Please Note
Deleting chats – whether individually or all at once – cannot be undone. If you have uploaded files to a deleted chat without also adding them to a knowledge base, those files are permanently deleted along with the chat.
- Open IONOS GPT.
- Click on the user icon in the top right-hand corner.
- In the user menu that opens, click on Settings. The Settings window will open.
- Select the General category on the left-hand side.
- Next to Delete all chats, click on the red Delete chats button.
- Confirm the prompt to delete all your previous conversations permanently.
