Valid for IONOS GPT (Momentum AI).
To achieve the best possible results with IONOS GPT, it is crucial to write high-quality prompts. Whether you’re working with Cedric the copywriter, Dora the code specialist, or any of the other specialised AI assistants, the more precise your prompts are, the more useful and helpful the results will be.
This guide will help you optimise your prompts so that you get clear, fast, and high-quality results every time.
What is a prompt?
A prompt is the input you use to tell the AI assistant what you want. This can be a question, a request, or a description of a task.
Example of an effective prompt:
“Write a LinkedIn post in which you professionally announce our company’s new sustainability initiative.”
This prompt is effective because it sets out a clear task with specific requirements regarding the format (LinkedIn post), the content (sustainability initiative), and the tone (professional).
Example of a less effective prompt:
“Help with marketing”
This prompt is less effective because it is too general. It defines neither a specific task, nor a context, nor a desired outcome, so the assistant can only guess what you need.
General tips for writing better prompts
- State your request clearly and precisely
- Describe exactly what you need.
- If necessary, provide details regarding format, tone, length, or style.
- Provide context
- Background information helps the AI assistant to better understand your objective or situation. The more relevant context you provide, the more appropriate the result will be.
- Add examples and requirements
- If you wish to follow a particular style or achieve a specific goal, state this as a requirement in your prompt.
- Use natural language
- You don’t need to use technical jargon. Word your instructions as you would when explaining them to a person.
- Use the Thinking function for complex tasks
- If you have a particularly logic-intensive, analytical, or multi-layered task (for example complex programming with Dora, or in-depth analyses), click the brain icon (Thinking) in the input field before submitting. The assistant will then run through an in-depth analysis process to give you an even more precise and structured response.

A good prompt gets you to your goal faster. So, before you submit it, go through this short checklist. It will help you avoid having to go back and make corrections, and it increases the chance of getting the right result at the first attempt.
- What sort of result am I looking for?
- Have I provided enough background information?
- Are the tone, format, and target audience clear?
- Have I mentioned any specific requirements?
