Performance issues caused by synchronisation of the Windows AppData folder

If you synchronise the Windows AppData folder on your computer with HiDrive Next, this may lead to errors and a drop in performance. This article explains the reasons behind this and how to work around the problem.
Note
The issue described in this article usually occurs when you synchronise the entire local user folder with HiDrive Next. This selection automatically includes the AppData folder.
What is the AppData folder in Windows?
The AppData folder is located in your personal Windows user directory (path: C:/Users/username/…). Programs store data required for their operation in the AppData folder. This can include a number of small and large files.

AppData is not displayed
The AppData folder is a hidden folder on your Windows system. This means that it is not displayed in the default settings of Windows Explorer and therefore cannot be excluded from a synchronisation selection.

Workaround for the AppData issue
If the AppData folder is synchronised with HiDrive Next, the large number of files may lead to a drop in performance, and outdated files may take up storage space unnecessarily.
To avoid these problems, add folders within the Windows user folder – such as Documents and Pictures – individually, and exclude the AppData folder from synchronisation.
