With the free app, you can use the features of HiDrive Next from any device running the latest Android operating system. This article provides an overview of the app’s features.

Navigating and viewing objects

Once you have launched the Android HiDrive Next app, your data will be displayed. You can open the files or folders shown by tapping on them.

Files and folders can be displayed either as thumbnails or in lists. You can switch the view using the view icon in the top right-hand corner of the menu bar.

Uploading files

  • Open the Android HiDrive Next app.
  • Tap the plus icon in the bottom right-hand corner. More icons will appear.
  • Tap Upload file. The device's file manager will open.
  • Select the file you want.

Splitting objects

Send a sharing link to share files and folders from your HiDrive Next cloud storage via your Android device:

  • Open the Android HiDrive Next app.
  • Tick the box next to the item you want to share.
  • Tap the share icon. A context menu will open.
  • Select one of the options provided to share the share link.

Please note that sharing multiple items at once is only possible via folder sharing. To do this, move all items into a folder and share that folder.

You can access advanced sharing options via the Share icon > Edit sharing. For further details, see the article Sharing files and folders.

Playing music and videos

You can play music and video files directly using the HiDrive Next app. To do so, tap on the file you want to play. Please note that your device must support the relevant media type.

Deleting files or folders

To delete files or folders, select them and tap the three-dot menu on the right-hand side of the menu bar. Select Delete and confirm the action.

App settings

You can use the settings to configure how HiDrive Next behaves in specific situations. Swipe from the left-hand edge to the right to open the app's main menu. Alternatively, tap the three-line menu in the top-left corner:

  • Automatically upload photos: Photos and/or videos from your smartphone will be automatically uploaded to HiDrive Next.
  • Show file extensions: If this option is enabled, file extensions, such as .pdf or .jpg, will be displayed in the app.
  • Show system folders: System folders are displayed. You can recognise these by the leading dot in their names.
  • Show thumbnails: When enabled, thumbnails are displayed by default. This increases your data usage.
  • Dark mode option: When dark mode is enabled, the app background is displayed in dark colours. All other app colours adapt accordingly.
  • Password protection: Secures your HiDrive Next app with a PIN code. This must be entered when launching the app to gain access.
  • Send usage data: Helps IONOS to further develop the app.
  • Privacy Policy: Opens a new window containing privacy information regarding the use of the HiDrive Next app. Includes settings for error reports, which transmit anonymous data on device type, operating system version and cause of the crash should the app crash.
