Using the iOS app for HiDrive Next

Valid for HiDrive Next.

With the free app, you can use the features of HiDrive Next from any device running the latest iOS operating system. This article provides an overview of the app's features.

Navigating and viewing objects

Once you've launched the iOS HiDrive Next app, your data will be displayed. You can open the files or folders shown by tapping on them.

Files and folders can be displayed either as thumbnails or in lists. You can switch the view using the view icon in the top right-hand corner of the menu bar.

Uploading files

Open the iOS HiDrive Next app.
Navigate to the folder to which you wish to add items.
Tap the plus icon at the bottom of the screen. A context menu will open.
Select a source location and the item you wish to upload.

Splitting objects

Send a sharing link to share files and folders from your HiDrive Next online storage via your iOS device:

Open the iOS HiDrive Next app.
Tap the share icon to the right of the item you wish to share. A context menu will open.
Select one of the options provided to share the share link.

Please note that you can only share multiple items at once by sharing a folder. To do this, move all the items into a folder and share that folder.

You can find an overview of all shared items in the main menu at the bottom of the screen under Shared Items.

Advanced sharing options

You can access advanced sharing options via Share > Edit sharing. For further details, see the article Sharing files and folders.

Playing music and videos

You can play music and video files directly using the HiDrive Next app. To do so, tap on the file you want to play. Please note that your smartphone must support the relevant media type.

Deleting files or folders

To delete files or folders, tap the three-dot menu on the right-hand side of the item. Select Delete and confirm the action.

App settings

You can use the settings to configure how HiDrive Next behaves in specific situations. Tap Settings at the bottom of the screen in the main menu:

Automatically upload photos: Photos and/or videos from your smartphone are automatically uploaded to a HiDrive Next folder of your choice. You can choose to do this only when a Wi-Fi connection is available.
Lock: Secures your HiDrive Next app with a PIN code. This must be entered when launching the app to gain access.
Privacy settings: Enable or disable the Required data collection and Data collection analysis for needs-based design settings. These control the scope of internal data transmitted to IONOS for error analysis and improvement.
Show file extensions: If this option is enabled, file extensions, such as .pdf or .jpg, are displayed in the app.
Legal Notice: Displays the legal notice for IONOS.
Privacy Policy: Opens a new window containing privacy information regarding the use of the HiDrive Next app.
