Valid for Cloud Servers, VPS, Dedicated Servers, and Server Power Deals that are managed in the Cloud Panel.

It can happen that a Windows server does not ping even if ICMP has been explicitly permitted in the firewall in the Cloud Panel.

In this case, the cause is probably the Windows firewall, as this is also preconfigured with the main rule "Prohibit all" in the Windows images.

Solutions:

  • Deactivate the Windows firewall completely if the firewall from Cloud Panel is sufficient.

  • Activate the existing rule for ICMP.

Disable Windows Firewall completely

To deactivate the Windows Firewall completely, complete the following:

  • Log in to the Administrator account.
  • Open the Control Panel.
  • Click on System and Security. The System and Security window opens.
  • Click on Windows Defender Firewall. The Windows Defender Firewall window opens.
  • Click on Turn Windows Defender Firewall on or off in the navigation bar on the left. The Customize settings window opens.

  • In the Customize settings for each type of network area, and in the Public network settings area, check the option for Turn off Windows Defender Firewall(not recommended).

The firewall is deactivated.
