In your IONOS account, the important data and settings of your WordPress installation are combined into one project. This article explains how to create your WordPress project for the first time and manage its settings.
Entering the project data (first-time setup)
- Log in to your IONOS account.
- Click on Menu > Web Projects from the title bar. The setup dialog will start.
- Enter a project name.
- Change the language of your WordPress installation if needed. This affects the language of your WordPress admin area and all language elements of the website that are intended for visitors.
- Click Start WordPress Installation. The setup process will be performed.
Once the initial setup is complete, the Launch WordPress button will be displayed. This will launch the IONOS wizard, which will guide you through the basic setup of your WordPress project. The article Setting up WordPress with the IONOS Wizard explains the details.
The Edit Settings shortcut will directly open the project settings. Here you can view and modify details of your WordPress project. More information can be found in the Managing the project settings section below.
Managing the project settings
You can manage the settings of your WordPress project hosting via the project settings:
- Project settings, e.g. name and assigned domain.
- Automatic updates, e.g. WordPress main program and PHP version.
- Database details, e.g. used disk space and link to phpMyAdmin
- SFTP and SSH settings
To access the project settings:
- Log in to your IONOS account.
- Click on Menu > Web Projects from the title bar. An overview of your web projects is displayed.
- Click on Manage project within the tile of your WordPress site.
- Click on the Settings tab below the domain name. The project settings are displayed.
- Change the settings you want. Please note that some changes do not take effect immediately.
